I recently received an announcement from the Governor's office regarding the RIDE advisory group that will potentially have an impact on education in Wyoming in the near future. As a parent, community member, or concerned citizen you have the opportunity to help shape the future of education in Wyoming.
Announced in May 2021, the Reimagining and Innovating the Delivery of Education (RIDE) Advisory Group is tasked to study and develop recommendations for elevating Wyoming’s primary and secondary education system into a position of national leadership. Its membership includes independent volunteers with an interest in Wyoming’s education system.
Key to that effort is learning more about what families, communities and businesses expect from the state’s educational system.“We want to hear from everyone who cares about Wyoming’s K-12 education system – parents, students, educators and employers,” Governor Gordon said. “We want their opinions about what it is we’d like our schools to be able to deliver for our students. Community listening sessions are planned for late spring and summer across the state. Additional information on the RIDE Advisory Group, and a link to the survey can be found on the group’s website.

Hello Wrangler Fans,
The 2021 Wrangler Invitational Basketball Tournament was a HUGE success due to the hard work of all the people who helped. Mistalyn Steffen set up a now world famous hospitality room that was maintained by Katsie McConnaughey, Emily Jarvis and Chelsi Fike. I heard 1 bus driver say there is almost a fist fight in their district for who gets to bring the teams to this tournament!! Thank you to Fluid Pro for donating 40+ large bags of ice while we are waiting for the arrival of a new ice machine for the training room. Thank you to the following for doing clock and book for 34 basketball games over 2+ days: Teresa DeWitt, Charlie DeWitt, Sarah Jarvis, Sabrina Thoren, Mistalyn Steffen, Shawn Steffen, Amy Mason, Sally Michelena, Arie Michelena, Aftann Kisling, and Holly Thomas. Thank you to Bruce Thoren for setting up a hot spot when the school's internet went down so those at home could still watch the action.
The HS sports teams take a break from competition to practice skills over the next few weeks. The next competitions will be January 6, 7 and 8 of 2022. This week's events follow:

Dear Families,
Shoshoni Schools has become aware of a troubling post that has been shared widely this week on the social media platform TikTok. The post refers to a threat to school safety “for every school in the USA, even elementary,” on Friday, December 17.
The post appears to be part of a national TikTok trend and did not originate in our school district. We have heard reports from other districts that the same post is circulating in their schools. While we do not believe the threat to be credible, we are closely monitoring the situation and taking it seriously.
The district has been in contact with the Shoshoni Police Department regarding the post. While we will not be in session on Friday, December 17th, we will be hosting the Wrangler Invite Basketball Tournament at the school. The Shoshoni Police Department will have officers on site at the school during the tournament as well as our SRO, Cody Myers.
This situation serves as a good example of why it is important to avoid sharing posts online that refer to school safety threats. Even if they are not credible threats, they can cause a great deal of stress and anxiety for our students, families, and staff. We ask our families to monitor their children’s social media activity and speak with them about proper behavior online.
If you or your child become aware of any potential threat posted to social media or anywhere else, please notify a school staff member or trusted adult right away.
As always, thank you for your partnership as we work to ensure a safe, secure, and positive learning environment for our students.
Sincerely,
Bruce Thoren
Superintendent
Yesterday our students had a wonderful opportunity! Thanks to the support of the Wyoming State Library, Author Casey Rislov came to our elementary school to read her latest book, Rowdy Randy! Casey did a great job interacting with the students, entertaining them with her story and also growing their interest in books and reading!
